The right charger must match the battery's voltage and chemistry, and deliver a current the cell can accept without damage. A charger that looks compatible on voltage alone is not enough.
How Do I Choose a Charger and What Charging Current Is Appropriate?
Match Voltage and Charge Protocol
Most lithium packs charge in two stages: constant current (CC) until the cell reaches its charge cut-off voltage, then constant voltage (CV) while the current tapers off. The charger must supply the correct cut-off voltage for your cell chemistry; using the wrong voltage risks undercharging or overcharging.
Size the Charge Current
Charge current is expressed as a C-rate. A standard cell often charges at around 0.5C to 1C, while high-rate cells may accept faster charging. Choose a current the cell is rated for; faster charging adds heat and can shorten life. As a rule, match the charger current to the cell's recommended charge rate rather than simply using the biggest adapter available.

Always use a charger with correct voltage and adequate protection, and let the battery rest or cool between fast charges. For custom packs, the recommended charge parameters are defined with the project and are subject to project evaluation.
